It's not just a Janet Jackson song...

The Pleasure Principle:
"A psychoanalytic concept originated by Sigmund Freud that continuously drives one to seek pleasure and to avoid pain.

Its counterpart is the reality principle which defers that gratification when necessary. The id follows the pleasure principle and rules early life, but as one matures, one begins to learn the need sometimes to endure pain and to defer gratification because of the exigencies and obstacles of reality. In Freud's words, "an ego thus educated has become reasonable; it no longer lets itself be governed by the pleasure principle, but obeys the reality principle, which also at bottom seeks to obtain pleasure, but pleasure which is assured through taking account of reality, even though it is pleasure postponed and diminished"

I was reminded of these concepts by a quote from a Stephen King novel I just started reading, which was:
"The id will not stand for a delay in gratification. It always feels the tension of the unfulfilled urge."

I started wondering which one typically rules a person (including myself) which in turn led to a blog quiz (of course) They do hold all the answers to the universe. ;)

You Are the Ego

You take a balanced approach to your life.

You definitely aren't afraid to act out on your desires - even crazy ones.

But you usually think first. Morals drive you as much as hedonism does.

You've been able to live a life of pleasure... without living a life of excess.

That sounds about right...

Hooray for the Curvy Girl!

For those of you who watch "America's Next Top Model" (yeah, Egan..this means you, buddy! haha) Whitney, the "plus sized" model was declared the winner this week. I was rooting for her because I liked her and thought it was about time the "big girl" won. I use quotations because I still can't figure out what is "plus sized" about her? She is a size 8/10 and tall! That's pretty much my size! What the hell? Don't even get me started...
Anyway, congrats to her, and everyone have a great weekend :)

Facebook is the Devil...

You've wondered where I've been? Well, the truth is, I've been enslaved by Facebook. My so called friends wanted me to rejoin after I had deleted my account months ago. I used to be annoyed by it...the games, the bells, the whistles. Now, I can't get enough, especially of the feature called "Owned" where you can buy and sell people (or pictures really)I get some kind of perverse joy from owning people and being owned. What kind of sicko am I?? BG, Jessica and Jef can tell you. I own them. Back to work slaves!!! ahahhahaaa!!

I need help...
